Our
Covenant
Adopted May
21, 1995
In the sure knowledge of God's caring presence and steadfast love, and inspired by God's promises in Jesus Christ, we covenant with God and with each other to be a community of faith, accepting the cost and joy of discipleship.
We propose, relying on God's help, to maintain the institutions of the Gospel, to submit ourselves to the orderly administration of the affairs of the church, and to walk together in God's ways, made known and to be made known to us.
We hold it to be the mission of the church to witness to the Good News of God made known to us in Jesus Christ, and to answer God's call to be about the work of bringing justice and making peace in our hearts, in our communities, and in our world.
We recognize that all people are made in the image of God, and so we seek to be an inclusive community, welcoming all persons to join with us, affirming their gifts, and inviting them to exercise leadership in this community without regard to race, gender, age, sexual orientation, or physical or mental ability.
As did our forebears, we do all this, depending on the presence of the Holy Spirit in our midst, to lead and to empower us.

Our
Mission Statement
Adopted
January 24, 1982
We affirm in faith that the love of God is acting amongst us and moving before us in ways known or to be made known. In response to Jesus' call to be a part of the movement towards God's commonwealth, we covenant with one another so to witness by thought, word, and deed, that this voluntary gathering of people becomes a more faithful body of Christ.
We pledge to show the presence of God's cause in our church and wider communities through:
Worship of God in Word and Sacrament germane to life situations.
Commitment to a free theology honoring our heritage, and celebrating our diversity.
Building of a supportive church environment that is sensitive to personal needs and encourages mental, emotional, and spiritual involvement.
Nurture of an educated congregation marked by intellectual integrity and relevant teaching.
Dedication of time, talent, and treasure to the service of others.
Courageous action as agents of reconciliation, offering hope and healing to the
brokenness found in persons, our region, and our world. By the grace of God, we seek to foster experiences which motivate and train us to identify and pursue our ministries with devotion and excellence. |
